Horror Movie News Report

Sony has released a new Spanish-language teaser for Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil, providing additional glimpses of Austin Abrams as Bryan, a medical courier caught in a disastrous night in Raccoon City. The film is scheduled to open in theaters and IMAX on September 18. The newly released footage takes Bryan into what appears to be a maternity ward at Raccoon City General Hospital. The room is covered in blood, slime and crimson organic growth, while several blood-filled membranes can be seen throughout the environment. The teaser also briefly shows what appears to be a monstrous infant hand emerging through the gore. Another sequence depicts a tentacle connected to an infected person’s face pulling the body upward. The footage expands on an earlier behind-the-scenes clip shared by Sony, which showed Cregger watching one of the large blood-filled membranes burst on set. According to GamesRadar’s coverage of the Resident Evil set, the hospital ward used approximately 500 gallons of fake blood, along with large fiberglass membrane-like structures and tentacles. The new teaser offers a closer look at the setting created with those materials. Resident Evil centers on Bryan as he attempts to deliver an organ to Raccoon City General Hospital while the night around him descends into horror. Cregger has emphasized that the film tells an original story set within the Resident Evil universe instead of directly adapting the characters and plot of a specific game. The cast also includes Zach Cherry, Kali Reis and Paul Walter Hauser. With the theatrical release approaching, the latest teaser adds more detail to the hospital’s disturbing environment while keeping the larger circumstances surrounding Bryan’s delivery undisclosed.
