Hammer Sets 4K Collector’s Edition for Uncut 1958 ‘Dracula’

Hammer Films has announced the home-video release of a seven-disc Limited Collector’s Edition built around the reconstructed and restored uncensored version of Terence Fisher’s 1958 Dracula, released in the United States as Horror of Dracula. The set is scheduled for October 26, 2026, with pre-orders opening through Hammer Films on September 4. The restoration brings back more than three minutes of material removed from the film because of its bloody, violent and sexual content. The additional footage includes elements from Dracula’s death and an extended attack scene. According to Dread Central, the complete version survived theatrically in Japan, but the material was considered lost for decades. Pristine reels of the Japanese version were later found in the Warner Bros. archive. Those materials allowed Hammer and Silver Salt Restoration to reconstruct the film in 4K, replacing earlier restoration efforts that had relied partly on incomplete and badly damaged material. The Collector’s Edition includes two UHD discs and five Blu-rays containing five versions of the film: the uncensored UK cut, the UK theatrical version, the uncensored U.S. Horror of Dracula version, the U.S. theatrical version and an editor’s workprint. The release will also include newly created 5.1 mixes alongside the original mono soundtrack. Additional contents include approximately 15 hours of new and archival material, documentaries and video essays covering subjects including Peter Cushing, censorship, the restoration and the film’s legacy. Physical extras include a 200-page book, a 60-page House of Hammer comic reprint, a double-sided poster and eight reproductions of original cinema lobby cards. Hammer is also offering a separately numbered Dracula Blood Edition limited to 1,000 copies and priced at $113. It comes in a red leather-feel outer slipcase with black debossed foil lettering and exclusive alternate artwork by Sam Hadley. The standard Collector’s Edition features new artwork by Robert Sammelin. A newly released trailer includes footage from the restoration as well as a restored clip featuring Dracula’s introduction: “I am Dracula.”
