A Man in the Woods With an Axe, the latest feature from independent filmmaker Dillon Brown, has been acquired by Louie La Vella and FOUND TV. The found-footage horror movie is scheduled to premiere as a FOUND Original on FOUND TV in early 2027, and a new trailer has been released alongside the announcement.
The film is described as a meta slasher that uses its found-footage format to conceal a larger shift in its story and presentation. According to Dread Central, the project combines practical gore, slasher violence, and dark comedy in a tribute to 1980s horror cinema.
A Man in the Woods With an Axe was directed by Brown and produced by Horror Dadz Production in association with Echo Cell Productions. The filmmaker reportedly made the movie on a $10,000 budget, shooting on weekends around the cast and crew’s full-time schedules.
Brown characterized the production as his most ambitious project so far. He also said the limited budget encouraged the team to create effects themselves, including practical effects developed with Dustin and a puppet effect created by Cody. The production aimed to place as many of its horror elements as possible physically in front of the camera.
Dread Central previously shared first-look and behind-the-scenes images from the project earlier in 2026. The outlet’s latest report identifies the FOUND TV acquisition and early 2027 premiere as the film’s current release plan. No specific premiere date was provided.
