Paramount Primal Developing Film Adaptation of Nick Cutter’s The Troop

Paramount Primal is developing a feature film adaptation of Nick Cutter’s horror novel The Troop, according to Dread Central, which cites a report from Deadline. Chris Basler is attached to write the screenplay. Published in 2014, The Troop follows a group of boys on an annual Scout camping trip whose plans change when an intruder arrives and unleashes a dangerous threat. As fear spreads through the group, the boys face a fight for survival that turns them against both the infected and one another. Lyrical Media, identified in the report as the company behind Onslaught, is producing the adaptation. Tracy Rosenblum is overseeing the project for Paramount Primal, the studio’s genre label. Cutter’s novel received the James Herbert Award for Horror Writing. The book’s story centers on children confronting an escalating crisis in an isolated camping setting, combining survival horror with conflict within the group. The film is currently described as being in development, and no release information or additional casting has been reported.
