BloodStream will begin adding more than 300 films from independent cult-cinema label Severin Films to its streaming platform in September, according to Horror Society. The partnership coincides with Severin’s 20th anniversary and will expand BloodStream’s selection of classic and international genre films.
The incoming collection spans supernatural horror, slashers, giallo, folk horror, exploitation, creature features and other unconventional cinema. Among the featured titles are Peter Medak’s The Changeling, Michele Soavi’s Cemetery Man, Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Santa Sangre and Álex de la Iglesia’s The Day of the Beast. Soavi’s The Church and The Sect are also included.
Other films listed as part of the collection include Anthropophagous, Absurd, Patrick, Next of Kin, Turkey Shoot, Vampyros Lesbos, Zombie Holocaust, Psychomania, The Manson Family, The Peanut Butter Solution and When the Wind Blows. The additions also include Kier-La Janisse’s documentary Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched: A History of Folk Horror.
Severin founder David Gregory said the label’s mission has involved rescuing, restoring and releasing genre films from around the world across streaming and physical media. BloodStream founder Shaked Berenson described Severin’s catalog as a strong match for the platform’s focus, while BloodStream Lead Programmer Heidi Honeycutt said the collection is significant both for genre audiences and for film history.
Founded in Los Angeles in 2006 by Gregory, Carl Daft and John Cregan, Severin Films has a library encompassing more than 500 films and television projects, according to the report. The label’s catalog will roll out on BloodStream throughout September, followed by curated collections and filmmaker spotlights planned for the fall.
BloodStream can be accessed free with ads or through ad-free and Early Access subscription plans. The service is available on the web, mobile devices and major connected-TV platforms.
